Also known as ‘Brazilian Butterfly’, Oxalis triangularis (Green) is a truly stunning plant. Dainty, triangular leaves are held on fine stems like a flutter of green butterflies. In summer it produces sprays of white or pale pink trumpet-shaped flowers. An additional curiosity of this unusual species is that like butterflies closing their wings, the leaves fold down at night, reopening in response to higher light levels in the day.
A prize plant for a cool room or conservatory which can be enjoyed in a shady spot outdoors during the summer months. RHS Award of Garden Merit.
Height and spread: 10-20cm (4-8in).
