Magnolia X Loebneri ‘Merrill’

Velvety buds open in spring to reveal a flurry of pink- tinged, white petals that fill the bare stems with bloom. The dense green foliage that follows turns to buttery yellow in autumn, bringing a splash of colour to the garden. This handsome deciduous shrub is hardy and reliable with flowers appearing less to prone frost damage than many varieties. With time, Magnolia x loebneri ‘Merrill’ forms a large shrub or small tree that makes a wonderful addition to a woodland area, or as a stand-alone specimen plant. Height and spread: 8m (26’).
