Grape ‘Cabernet Franc’ is a self fertile variety that is best grown in a large glasshouse or a very protected site in milder parts of the UK. This is a classic French Claret producing small black fruits which ripen late in the season – hence the need for growing under cover in most parts of the UK. The dark purple-red grapes produce superb wine with a delicious blackcurrant note, and makes a refreshing juice if sweetened. Height of cordon trained vine: 1.8m (6’). Spread of cordon trained vine: 1.5m (5’). Untrained plants may reach up to 8m (26′).
Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.
